Christa’s Angels is an initiative to support friends and colleagues in Darbonne and Fayett (Haiti) who saved Christa Brelsford and her brother Julian during the terrible earthquake on January 12, 2010.
Christa and Julian were volunteering with Heads Together Haiti, a community-based literacy and development organization, and only through the decisive action of these Haitian friends were they safely evacuated for medical care.
Having seen the worst of destruction and the best of human kindness and courage, we now want to honor Christa’s Angels in Haiti by giving back to support their crucial work. Our support will aim to:
- rebuild the Heads Together Haiti school in Cabois,
- support the salaries and operating costs of Heads Together Haiti programs in literacy, education, and environmental management, and
- provide for the education of the young Haitians who helped Christa.

I read your story today in the Arizona Republic. It touched my heart. I read it to my 4 children to show them the goodness of people and how one good deed turns into another. We made a smalll donation to your organization in hopes that you can continue to help the people of Haiti. Thank you!
Hi Christa,
Saw your inspirational story on a recent episode of “I Survived.” I just wanted to commend you for your courage and ability to turn a negative into something positive. I was inspired to write a short blog post about your story http://bit.ly/fiyVQp
Keep up the great work! Blase
Hello, Christa;
I too, saw ‘I Survived’ and was touched by your story. Your courage and your kindness are heartwarming. I believe things, whether good or bad, happen for a reason and perhaps you survived to do what you’re doing now. God bless you and may you live a healthy, happy life. My donation isn’t huge, but every little bit counts.
Your sound, logical and scientific perspective of your experiences. You have made a difference to me. Nothing happens “for a reason” unless one is referring to your experiences leading up to an event. You are strong and beautiful.
Hi Christa. My name is Anna Bruno. My dad was on a mission trip in Port-au-Prince, staying in the Hotel Montana. He was killed along with five others from Lynn University in Boca Raton, FL. I read your story in the Women’s Health magazine back when it was published and looked at it again today while looking at a scrapbook my mom put together of my dad with my sisters and me. I’ve worked with Disaster Accountability Project on Haiti efforts, but didn’t get what I needed from that organization. I just wanted to reach out and say that your organization sounds really great. I read some of your posts and saw pictures and you’ve done amazing work.
